Christo Barnhoorn pursued his higher education at Texas Christian University (TCU), where he first completed the Ranch Management Program in 2000. This program equipped him with advanced skills in ranching, complementing his extensive practical experience. He later returned to TCU to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management, graduating in 2004. This combination of specialized ranch management training and a solid business education provided Christo with the tools necessary to successfully manage and grow his own ranching ventures.
Experience
Christo’s career spans over 46 years of hands-on experience in sheep farming, starting on his family’s ranch in the Karoo, South Africa, where he was deeply involved in raising and butchering Dorpers. After immigrating to the United States in 1996, Christo managed ranches for several large outfits in South Texas, where he honed his skills in American ranching practices. In recent years, he returned to his roots by establishing his own ranch in New Mexico, where he has successfully blended traditional South African sheep farming techniques with innovative approaches.

Christo Barnhoorn’s areas of expertise include sheep farming, particularly with Dorper sheep, ranch management, and sustainable meat production. His deep understanding of sheep farming, developed over decades of practical experience, is complemented by his knowledge of business management, which he applies to his thriving mail-order meat delivery business.
